Meet Judge Chris Taylor.
Rooted in NORTH TEXAS. Committed to Justice.
Chris Taylor was born at Carswell Air Force Base in Fort Worth, Texas—back when the sound of military jets was a reminder of American strength. His father served in the U.S. Army, and from an early age, Chris learned the values that still guide him today: faith, hard work, public service, and family.
After his father retired from the Army, Chris returned home to Fort Worth, graduated from Southwest High School, and earned a degree in political science from the University of North Texas. He went on to receive his law degree from Texas Tech University School of Law, where he was awarded the prestigious Regent’s Scholarship.
Chris began his legal career in Fort Worth, working on complex civil litigation at one of the city’s top firms. But he soon felt called to serve. He joined a smaller firm to represent public entities like school districts and municipalities, then answered that call fully in 2018 when he began serving in the Civil Division of the Tarrant County District Attorney’s Office. There, he represented the County in litigation matters and provided legal counsel to the Commissioners Court on high-stakes issues such as strengthening our state's commitment to legal immigration.
In 2021, Governor Greg Abbott appointed Chris to serve as the Presiding Judge of the 48th District Court—one of the oldest and most respected courts in Tarrant County. Since then, Chris has twice earned the trust of voters, winning election and re-election. For nearly four years, he has presided over civil cases with a steady hand, run an efficient courtroom, and upheld the law with clarity and conviction.
Judge Taylor believes in applying the law as written and honoring the Constitution—not rewriting it from the bench. That’s the promise he made in his oath, and it’s the standard he upholds every day.
Outside the courtroom, Chris is a devoted husband, father, and man of faith. He and his wife attend St. Mary the Virgin Catholic Church in Arlington, where Chris serves as an usher and a member of the armed guardian team. Chris and his family—including their three lively dogs—live right here in Tarrant County.
